Served 8 years on Lansing Zoning Board of Appeals, 3 years as the Chair, gaining knowledge of Town zoning and other land use laws.
Served as ZBA liaison to the Lansing Agricultural Committee during the revision of the Agriculture (AG) zone and Residential Agriculture (RA) zone.
Leadership skills gained as serving over 10+ years on Board and 8 years as the Chair of Municipal Health Insurance Consortium which serves 85+ municipalities.

Joseph Wetmore, Town Board
In the early 1990's, Joseph moved to Ithaca and opened a small used bookstore, Autumn Leaves Used Books, on the Ithaca Commons and ran it until he retired in 2023. He served on Lansing's Comprehensive Plan Committee for several years, and in 2017 was elected to the Town Board, and then reelected in 2021. One of the major recommendations of the comprehensive Plan was that the Town should do a major rewrite of our zoning laws. In 2024, he led the town in applying for a grant from New York state to help the town rewrite our zoning laws. His main goal in his next term will be to help facilitate the revision of the Town's zoning laws.

John V. Dennis, PhD, is an environmental planner with a doctorate from Cornell University. Over the course of his career, he has worked on environmental protection, refugee relief, and agricultural development in developing countries. A Lansing resident since 1994, John has long been active in local environmental and community affairs. He served for 12 years as the Village of Lansing’s representative on the Tompkins County Environmental Management Council and was a member of the Village Zoning Board of Appeals. In 2017, he co-founded Cayuga Lake Environmental Action Now (CLEAN). In addition to his environmental work, John’s background includes teaching macroeconomics, working as a socio-economist, and serving on the board of the education technology company panOpen Education.
